Efficient rail breaking with low tool wear – for high performance, reproducible breaking lengths and cost-effective processing directly in operation or mobile on site.
The Arno®Break rail breakers were developed to break railway rails more efficiently and economically than conventional cutting processes. Thanks to the special notching and breaking process, tool wear is significantly reduced. Depending on the requirement, solutions are available for processing single rails or multiple rails at the same time.
While the Arno®Break R Multiple is designed for maximum performance and the simultaneous breaking of up to five rails, the Arno®Break R is ideal for applications where compact, proven and flexible technology is required.

The rail breaker breaks rails quickly, cleanly and reproducibly. The system has a modular design and consists of a feeding unit and a breaking unit. In the feeding unit, the rails are placed on the support and safely guided to the breaking unit via the roller conveyor. Five feed corridors make pre-positioning easier. A feed roller transports the rails to the adjustable stop, allowing the desired breaking length to be set easily.
The breaking unit features a particularly robust, precision-engineered steel construction for reliable continuous operation. A double-walled design in the area of the swing arm bearing increases stability. The hydraulic cylinders are mounted with articulated joints on a massive crossbeam and ensure powerful, controlled movement.
The process is consistently designed for safety, quality and speed: first, the hold-down unit securely fixes the rails in place. Then the notching swing arm moves into position, and five individually adjustable notching knives create the notches precisely. Thanks to the independent adjustment, different rail types can be processed in parallel – saving time and increasing availability. The actual break is then carried out via the breaking beam.
The hydraulic unit and control cabinet are compactly integrated on a shared platform – for a space-saving setup and good accessibility for maintenance and service.

The Arno®Break R is designed to break railway rails more effectively than cutting. A stationary version is available for processing rails up to 120 m in length, as well as a mobile version for use directly on the track. A special notching and breaking process enables cost-effective rail size reduction with minimal tool wear.
Both versions can efficiently break rails with a length of around 24 m into short sections suitable for transport. Railway rails are high-quality scrap for foundries and can be broken immediately after dismantling in order to avoid special transport.
Breakable materials: Brittle railway rails with the highest possible alloy content. Soft tram rails, on the other hand, cannot be broken.
