ARNO® Press

Press scrap and end-of-life vehicles into compact bales.

Highlights

  • For steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, lead and body parts
  • Two- or three-stage compaction, nine (K series) or seven (D series) sizes from 800 to 10,000 kN
  • Massive welded construction for continuous multi-shift operation
  • Manual or fully automatic control, process visualization and remote maintenance via modem
  • Optional diesel drive, radio remote control or mobile version on wheels (D series)
  • ARNO® Press CC 150 (car crusher) presses drained end-of-life vehicles from several sides with 2,950 kN into flat, stackable car hulks – up to −80 % freight costs per load
  • ARNO® Press CB series (car baler) compacts end-of-life vehicles in 65 s into calibrated 600 × 600 mm furnace bales – straight to the steel mill without rework

The ARNO® Press series compacts loose sheet metal, stamping waste and body parts into dense, dimensionally stable bales. This significantly simplifies handling, transport and melting, and reduces transport and storage costs by up to 30 %. Press-shop waste is processed with the K series, bulky scrapyard parts with the D series, and complete end-of-life vehicles are handled with the ARNO® Press CC 150 car crusher or the ARNO® Press CB series car baler.

The Material

Loose scrap metal, end-of-life vehicles and bulky body parts take up a lot of storage space and are expensive to transport. Baling compresses them into dense, dimensionally stable bales — this significantly reduces volume, lowers freight costs, and makes the material ready for immediate melting at steel mills and foundries.

ARNO® Press CC 150

The car crusher for car dismantlers and scrapyards: hydraulic cylinders acting from several sides press drained end-of-life vehicles with 2,950 kN into flat, stackable car hulks (approx. 4,500 × 2,200 × 350 mm) – energy-efficient, low in dust and noise. Up to 30 vehicles per hour, 15–20 car bodies per semi-trailer.

Technology

Advantages: ARNO® Press CB series

Furnace-ready bale

Calibrated 600 × 600 mm cross-section at maximum bulk density – meets steel mill and foundry criteria without rework.

Fastest cycle

Two hinged lids with short travel compact in 65 s per cycle.

Corrugated Hardox® armour

Replaceable plates with a wave profile let the material flow and minimise abrasion.

Siemens S7 & IoT

Position and pressure sensors, cloud data logger and predictive maintenance via app.

ARNO® Press CB Series

The car baler compacts end-of-life vehicles multi-dimensionally into calibrated 600 × 600 mm furnace bales: two heavy hinged lids of 3,000 kN each pre-press the vehicle and cut off protruding parts, and the main cylinder compacts it lengthwise. The bales go to the steel mill without rework – 40–70 bales per semi-trailer, around three times as many units as with flat car bodies.

The process chain in vehicle recycling

Crushed or baled, the end-of-life vehicle goes into the shredder – which can therefore be designed much smaller than for whole vehicles.

1

End-of-life vehicle

Drained and stripped – ready for compaction.

2

Crushing or baling

Car crusher or car baler compact the body into a bale.

3

Shredding

The compact bale is shredded instead of the whole vehicle.

4

Clean fractions

Magnetic, air and sensor separation into steel, aluminium and copper.

Pre-compaction saves shredder size, investment and energy – and makes the material flow predictable.
